Urban Issues Forum
The Urban Issues Breakfast Forum is a monthly discussion forum designed to publicly educate the urban community
on critical issues and improve minority media communications access to national and local newsmakers. The goal
is to provide the community, at large, community news sources with firsthand insights to their constituencies
on issues of national and local concern. The attentive public is also invited to attend these forums and many
are held at no expense to the public. Past speakers over the past seven years have included U.S. Surgeon General,
Dr. David Satcher, South African Parliament member, Winnie Mandela, Rainbow/PUSH President, Rev. Jesse Jackson,
Sr., Minister Louis Farrakhan, Dr. Dorothy Height, former U.S. Senator, Carol Moseley-Braun and many state and
local newsmakers.
Annual sponsors of the Urban Issues Forum are Union Bank, Capital Vision Equities, Southern California Edison , SEIU 434b, Our Weekly,
Sempra Energy, KJLH Radio 102.3FM, Wells Fargo Bank, and Community Financial Resource Center. The host of the Urban
Issues Breakfast Forum is Syndicated Columnist (and former LA/NAACP President), Anthony Asadullah Samad.
